Arina Pajunen
Arina Pajunen started working as a Financial Management Specialist at the Iivari Mononen group in July 2022.
Having received her Bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2015, Pajunen has had plenty of experience with various financial management tasks. Before coming to Iivari Mononen, she worked for Joensuun Laivaus Oy.
Pajunen held a summer job at Joensuun Laivaus Oy in 2014 and began working as a regular employee after her graduation.
“I spent seven years with Laivaus. My tasks consisted of freight forwarding, statistics compilation, reporting, as well as payroll calculation, accounting, and authoritative reporting in financial management”, Pajunen recalls. Her work also included international service sales.
“Fortunately, there was a need for an extra pair of hands.”
Moving to Iivari Mononen
When the war in Ukraine started in February 2022, there was less work to do at Laivaus, as the use of the Saimaa Canal had almost completely stopped. Joensuun Laivaus and Iivari Mononen have a shared history and some overlapping owners, so it was natural for the two companies to work together.
“I came here ‘on loan’ in late April; I was still on the payroll at Laivaus but I worked for Iivari Mononen. Fortunately, there was a need for an extra pair of hands.”
Her official duties involve managing the banking business for Iivari Mononen Oy, PrimaTimber Oy, Scanpole Oy, and their Swedish and Norwegian subsidiaries. “I will be taking on even more duties in the future,” Pajunen describes.
“This job gives me just the right amount of challenge. There are so many opportunities to learn new things like accounting legislation, standards and practices, and foreign accounting.”
“For me, the most important part of my job is being satisfied with my work and enjoying coming in every day.”
Job satisfaction
“For me, the most important part of my job is being satisfied with my work and enjoying coming in every day. My job at Iivari Mononen fits the bill,” says Pajunen.
“The opportunity to work remotely is new to me. Since you don’t have to be in any one place, it introduces a lot of flexibility to the job.
The working community
Pajunen works at the offices of Iivari Mononen group in Joensuu’s Science Park.
“The working atmosphere is really comfortable. There are people of all ages from every stage of life. Even though everyone has different interests, we all get along very well.” She smiles,
“I like that.”
