Scanpole Oy, part of the Iivari Mononen Group, has agreed on business arrangements with the Saint-Gobain Group

Scanpole Oy has bought the entire share capital of the Irish PDM Timber Treatment Ltd and agreed to buy the entire share capital of the English Calders & Grandidge Ltd both owned by the French Saint-Gobain S.A. Completion of the acquisition of the Calders & Grandidge Ltd share transaction is subject to merger control clearance by the UK competition authorities. Both companies specialize in the manufacture of wooden utility poles and fencing posts for the Irish and English markets.

The turnover of PDM Timber Treatment Ltd in 2023 was 33,4 M€ and it employs 30 employees. Calders & Grandidge Ltd’s turnover in 2023 was 16,5 M€ and it has 52 employees. After the corporate restructuring, the turnover of the Iivari Mononen group will increase to more than €100 million in 2024 and the number of personnel to over 200 people.

PDM Timber Treatment Ltd’s operations in Kilteel, near Dublin and, post-completion, Calders & Grandidge Ltd’s in Boston, East England, will continue in the current market as before.

The arrangements enable synergy in wood procurement, logistics and production cooperation between factories,” says Ari Mononen, CEO of the Iivari Mononen Group.

As of March 1, 2024, Janne Monni will be the CEO of PDM Timber Treatment Ltd.

Iivari Mononen Group is a Finnish, family-owned group, which includes: Scanpole: Pole and fencing post business and PrimaTimber: Construction timber business.
